Twenty-time GRAMMY Award winner Kirk Franklin has released his much-anticipated 14th solo album, I Am What I Am, out now via Uptown Records.
The double album has two sides: seven live recordings rooted in the choir-driven gospel sound that first captivated audiences, and seven studio tracks that push into Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B and more. Together they explore the duality of who Kirk is, a gospel legend and a genre-bending, multi-generational artist.
The guest list is wide: Jelly Roll, GloRilla, Davido, Tobe Nwigwe, Karen Clark Sheard and Tim Rogers. The focus track is “Hope In You” with Davido. The album also includes “This Time” featuring GloRilla, and “Thank You For Everything” with Karen Clark Sheard of The Clark Sisters, which became the fastest-growing record at Gospel radio and made its live TV debut at the 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
It is Kirk’s first album under his new partnership with Uptown Records, alongside his own Fo Yo Soul Entertainment and TRIBL Music Group.
