Philip Anthony Mitchell, founder and lead pastor of 2819 Church in Atlanta, has released his new book, Contend: Standing Boldly for Biblical Truth While Winning the War Within. It arrived October 13 from W Publishing, an imprint of HarperCollins Christian Publishing.
The book is built on Jude 1:3, the call to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Pastor Mitchell’s point is that contending is about being faithful, not just being loud. He calls readers to contend in two directions: outwardly, in the culture, and inwardly, in their own hearts.
The launch reaches beyond the page. On October 18, pastors across the country are invited to preach from Jude 1:3 for the Contend Gathering. Readers who want to go deeper can join the waitlist for the Contend Cohort, a six-month intensive that begins in January 2027.
Churches ordering 10 or more copies receive a gathering resource kit and monthly study guides through December, which makes Contend a natural fit for small groups and leadership teams this fall.
Contend is available now from Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart, Christianbook, Books-A-Million, Mardel and other retailers.
