The 2024 BLACK GIRLS ROCK!® Awards, a star-studded celebration, will be held in Atlanta and airing on Lifetime on August 1 to honor the remarkable contributions of Black women across various fields. Academy-award-nominated actress Danielle Brooks is set to host this year’s event. The honorees include Tracee Ellis Ross, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Stephanie Mills, Aurora James, Latham Thomas, Maya Penn, and Fantasia.

Hosted by the talented Danielle Brooks, known for her standout roles in Orange is the New Black and The Color Purple, the event promises to be a night of empowerment and inspiration. The BLACK GIRLS ROCK!® Awards have long been a cultural milestone, celebrating the achievements and indomitable spirit of Black womanhood. This year’s awards will be taped at the iconic Fox Theatre on June 27 and will feature an exciting lineup of honorees.

Beverly Bond, CEO and founder of BLACK GIRLS ROCK!®, expressed her excitement about the return of the awards to television, partnering with Lifetime A&E Networks to bring this powerful celebration to a broader audience. The event aims to amplify the voices and impact of women of color, showcasing their excellence and contributions to various fields.

The honorees for this year include:

Tracee Ellis Ross (Star Power Award): Actress and founder of Pattern Beauty.

Gina Prince-Bythewood (Shot Caller Award): Acclaimed filmmaker known for “The Woman King” and “Love and Basketball.”

Fantasia (Black Girl Magic Award): GRAMMY Award-winning singer, actress, and entrepreneur.

Aurora James (Boss Up Award): Designer, philanthropist, and creator of Brother Vellies.

Stephanie Mills (Living Legend Award): Iconic singer and Broadway legend.

Maya Penn (Young, Gifted, and Black Award): Artist, animator, and sustainability advocate.

Latham Thomas (Community Change Agent Award): Maternal health and wellness advocate, founder of Mama Glow.

The 2024 BLACK GIRLS ROCK!® Awards will also feature the expansive BLACK GIRLS ROCK! EXPERIENCE™ across Atlanta, including the BGR! Film Festival, the BLACK CLOUD® Rainmaker Summit, and a VIP Pre-Awards Shot Caller Dinner and Fundraising Gala. This multifaceted celebration will provide dynamic city-wide activations and opportunities for engagement.

The BLACK GIRLS ROCK!® Awards have a rich history of honoring luminaries such as Michelle Obama, Rihanna, Regina King, Yara Shahidi, Angela Davis, and Janet Jackson. This year’s event promises to continue this legacy, celebrating excellence and empowerment.
