Grammy nominated worship leader Pastor William McDowell released his new single, The Promise at midnight on Friday, September 1.
Pastor McDowell took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that the single would be released in celebration of his birthday.
In the post, he shared, “It’s my birthday today! I’m so grateful to be able to celebrate another year of the faithfulness of God. He’s been good! On my birthday I have a gift for all of you! Tonight at midnight I’m releasing a new song called “The Promise” with my friends @nicolebinion and @dunsinoyekan.”
He went on to say, “After you hear it, if it’s a blessing to you, post about it and tell everyone you know. That is the best gift from you for my birthday.”

Grammy nominated worship leader Pastor William McDowell is set to release new music on Friday, September 1.
In an announcement made on Instagram, McDowell shared, “🎶NEW MUSIC ALERT! Family, after a long hiatus, I will be releasing a new single on 9/1. 🎉🎉🎉
The Lord has been stirring in my heart a new sound for the nations and has given me the grace to pick up the pen (and record with some great friends @nicolebinion and @dunsinoyekan!)
I’m so excited to share more with you but for now save the date! 🙌🏾”
McDowell initially garnered significant recognition through the album “As We Worship Live,” which reached number three on the Billboard Gospel Album chart in 2009. He has since maintained a consistent presence on the charts, releasing successful albums such as “Arise: The Live Worship Experience” in 2011, the Dove Award-winning “Sounds of Revival” in 2016, and “The Cry: A Live Worship Experience” in 2019, all of which achieved Top Ten status.
