During the conference, Jekalyn Carr was honored by esteemed leaders in the community and business sector. Don Jackson, CEO of Central City Productions and Stellar TV, presented Carr with the 2023 ForeRunner Award, recognizing her as a young pioneer for this generation.
Jackie Patillo, President of the GMA, also presented two 2023 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards to Carr, acknowledging her songwriting and publishing contributions for the hit song “My Portion,” which became one of the most played gospel songs of 2022.
State Representative Mandisha Thomas presented Carr and the “YOU WILL WIN!” 2023 conference with a Resolution, further acknowledging their impact and achievements.
The Honorary Gala featured performances by recording artists Bri Babineaux and LaTocha, while Dr. Charles Jenkins served as the guest speaker for the conference, delivering a powerful message.
